Ball understands that Fung and Kau are really in love with each other. He then is willing to give up Fung for the sake of Kau. He even asks Fai to do a favour for them. He eventually convinces Fai.
Kis, indeed, more cunning and shrewd than Kau. He successfully plots against Kau. Kau is then accused of murder. Ki even threatens Kau to swindle Fai with him. Kau has no alternative and assents to his demand.
